SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Baylor Bears delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Saturday, defeating the Utah Utes 32-14 at Rice-Eccles Stadium and spoiling Senior Day in the regular-season finale.

The victory snapped a late-season slide and provided a strong finish for a Baylor team that entered the year with far higher expectations after reaching as high as No. 10 in the Top 25 Media Poll.

Senior running back Dawson Pendergrass played a major role in the win. Pendergrass rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown while adding seven receptions for 89 yards and two more scores. His three-touchdown performance helped Baylor control the game from start to finish.

“I’m grateful for every opportunity Baylor has given me,” said Pendergrass. “This program helped me grow as a player and a person. I’ll miss the teammates, coaches, and the chance to compete every week. I always tried to give everything I had to help bring success to Baylor, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”

Junior quarterback Walker White rebounded from a difficult outing the previous week, completing an efficient performance with 277 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. White’s day ended early after suffering an injury in the fourth quarter, but redshirt freshman backup stepped in and impressed, completing 7 of 8 passes for 84 yards.

Baylor’s defense provided several game-changing moments. Kris Wokomah intercepted Utah quarterback Michael Tollefson early in the fourth quarter, setting up a touchdown that extended the lead. Earlier, free safety Sean Woodall forced a fumble in the second quarter that also led directly to Baylor points.

The Bears closed the regular season at 8-4 (6-3) and will now turn their attention to the Liberty Bowl, where they are scheduled to face Ole Miss Rebels (8-4). For a Baylor team that once appeared destined for bigger goals, the bowl game provides one final opportunity to end the season on a high note.
