TORONTO, Ontario — Switzerland stormed back from a two-goal deficit to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Group Stage opener for both nations at BMO Field.

Bosnia and Herzegovina seized control early and struck first when Amar Memić found the back of the net to give his side a 1-0 lead. The Dragons doubled their advantage in the 27th minute when veteran striker Edin Džeko finished off another attack, putting Switzerland in a difficult position heading into halftime trailing 2-0.

The Swiss emerged from the break with renewed urgency and began to generate sustained pressure in the attacking third. Their persistence paid off in the 62nd minute when Dan Ndoye fired a shot past the Bosnian goalkeeper to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Switzerland continued to push forward and found the equalizer in the 78th minute. After entering the match as a substitute for Fabian Rieder in the 69th minute, Djibril Sow made an immediate impact. The midfielder received a pass in a crowded penalty area and managed to get a shot away despite being tightly marked. His low effort slipped past the goalkeeper and curled just inside the right post, sending the Swiss supporters into celebration.

Bosnia and Herzegovina searched for a late winner, but Switzerland stood firm defensively over the final minutes to complete the comeback and earn a valuable point in one of the tournament’s most entertaining matches so far.
