CHICAGO, IL — The Los Angeles Sparks ended their two-game losing streak with a 91-84 victory over the Chicago Sky at Wintrust Arena, climbing back above .500 with a much-needed road win.

Kelsey Plum poured in a game-high 28 points, while Cameron Brink added 20 points and 9 rebounds as the Sparks rebounded from consecutive losses to Seattle and Minnesota.

Plum came out firing, scoring 11 points in the opening quarter, but neither team could gain much separation as Los Angeles carried a slim 26-25 lead into the second.

The tightly contested game continued through the first half, with the teams deadlocked 44-44 at the break.

The Sparks finally created breathing room in the third quarter. Brink took over on both ends of the floor, scoring 7 points while grabbing 5 rebounds to help Los Angeles outscore Chicago 20-11 and build a 64-55 advantage entering the fourth.

The Sky made one final push behind Ariel Atkins, who scored 9 of her team-high 22 points in the final quarter. Kamilla Cardoso trimmed the deficit to 85-84 by converting a free throw with 25 seconds remaining.

But the Sparks answered at the free-throw line. Forced to foul, Chicago watched Los Angeles calmly convert six consecutive free throws in the closing seconds to put the game away.

The victory improves the Sparks to 8-7 on the season, keeping them above the playoff cut line. Los Angeles remains in seventh place, 1.5 games ahead of eighth-place Seattle, while sitting 4.5 games behind the first-place Atlanta Dream.
