MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Los Angeles Sparks wasted little time putting their blowout loss to the Las Vegas Aces behind them, cruising to a 97-79 victory over the Minnesota Lynx at Target Center to snap Minnesota’s seven-game winning streak.

Kelsey Plum led the Sparks with 22 points, knocking down 4-of-6 three-point attempts, while Julie Vanloo added 16 points. Cameron Brink controlled the paint with 9 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, anchoring a dominant effort on both ends of the floor.

Minnesota was once again without star forward Napheesa Collier, who remained sidelined with a knee injury suffered in the Lynx’s previous game. Kayla McBride did her best to carry the offense, scoring 22 points, but she struggled with her efficiency from long range, finishing 5-of-14 from three-point range. DiJonai Carrington chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Los Angeles established control early, outscoring Minnesota 31-23 in the opening quarter. Brink collected five rebounds in the period and already had nine by halftime as the Sparks built a 51-40 lead.

Any hopes of a Lynx comeback were quickly erased after the break. The Sparks matched Minnesota’s intensity in the third quarter, winning the frame 29-24 to stretch their advantage to 80-64 entering the fourth.

McBride attempted to rally the Lynx with 9 fourth-quarter points, but Minnesota never seriously threatened as Los Angeles maintained its double-digit cushion throughout the final period.

The Sparks led by as many as 20 points and never looked back after taking control in the opening quarter. Minnesota’s largest lead of the night was just two points.

The victory was a much-needed response for Los Angeles after its 107-82 loss to Las Vegas, while the Lynx saw one of the WNBA’s longest active winning streaks come to an end.
