Sounders snap skid, edge Montréal in June finale

SEATTLE, WA — Seattle Sounders FC returned to form with a 1-0 win over CF Montréal, ending a two-match losing streak to close out June.

The breakthrough came in the 71st minute when Jesús Ferreira converted from the penalty spot, driving a shot into the top right corner for the match’s only goal. Seattle controlled much of the play, finishing with 64% possession and placing four of five shots on target.

Montréal struggled to generate chances, managing just three shots with none on target. Backup goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland was largely untested as Seattle’s defense held firm throughout.

The result followed consecutive losses to Sporting Kansas City and Orlando City SC, giving Seattle momentum ahead of their U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal against San Diego FC on July 6.
