SEATTLE, WA — Seattle Sounders FC responded from their previous defeat with a convincing 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids at Lumen Field.

Santiago Castañeda gave Seattle an early breakthrough just six minutes into the match, finishing off a quick attacking sequence to put the Sounders ahead. The lead held through halftime despite Colorado pushing hard for an equalizer.

The Rapids outshot Seattle 6-2 in the opening half and generated 1.8 expected goals, but could not beat goalkeeper Álvaro Montero, who turned away six shots to preserve the advantage.

Seattle pulled away late behind league-leading scorer Jesús Ferreira. In the 74th minute, Cristian Roldan delivered a lofted pass over the defense that Ferreira gathered in stride before tucking a left-footed finish inside the right post. Roldan assisted again moments later, sending a cross into the box that Ferreira controlled off his chest before driving a right-footed shot inside the left post for his 20th goal of the season.

With the victory, Seattle climbed into fourth place in the Western Conference, while Colorado remained 10th.
