SARASOTA, FL — The Boston Red Sox put an end to the Detroit Tigers’ eight-game Spring Training winning streak, blanking Detroit 3-0 behind a dominant outing from Sonny Gray.

Gray silenced the Tigers’ offense over four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while keeping Detroit off the scoreboard. Wilyer Abreu provided the offense, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, and two RBIs.

The Tigers managed only three hits all afternoon and were unable to generate any run support for Freddy Peralta, who suffered his first loss of the spring. Peralta allowed one run over three innings before giving way to a bullpen that combined to cover the final six frames.

Boston improved to 5-7 with its second consecutive victory, while Detroit fell to 9-3 after seeing its spring-best eight-game winning streak come to an end.

Monday: The Tigers extended their winning streak to six games behind Colt Keith, who homered and drove in three runs. Reese Olson earned his second spring victory after allowing one run over three innings.

Tuesday: Detroit pounded out 11 hits in a 9-1 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Tigers broke the game open with a six-run third inning as Riley Greene and Josh Lowe both homered. Jackson Jobe surrendered one run over four innings to pick up the win.

Wednesday: The Tigers needed just two runs thanks to a dominant outing from Tarik Skubal, who blanked the Atlanta Braves. Both Detroit runs came on a two-run home run by Josh Lowe.
