SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Stephen Curry took over late to lift the Golden State Warriors past the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-107 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals at Chase Center.
Curry broke a 107-107 tie with a three-pointer with 39 seconds remaining, then added a layup 20 seconds later to seal the win. He finished with a game-high 32 points and knocked down 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Kristaps Porziņģis added 25 points and 8 rebounds, while Draymond Green contributed 14 points and 9 boards.
The Timberwolves controlled much of the first half and built a 12-point lead, but Golden State steadily chipped away and trailed just 89-84 entering the fourth quarter.
The final frame belonged to the Warriors. Curry scored 8 fourth-quarter points, while Porziņģis added 10 points and 4 rebounds as Golden State outscored Minnesota 28-18.
Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 38 points, but Minnesota struggled to get enough support from Julius Randle. After scoring 31 points in the series-clinching Game 6 win over Oklahoma City, Randle was held to 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting and missed all four of his three-point attempts.
