PHOENIX, AZ — The Diamondbacks kept their season alive Tuesday night, holding off a late Dodgers comeback to earn a 5-4 victory at Chase Field in Game 3 of the NL Division Series.
Arizona jumped on Dodgers starter Blake Snell immediately. In the first inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. crushed a three-run homer to left to give the Diamondbacks an early 3-0 lead.
The Dodgers answered quickly in the second. Los Angeles plated three runs of its own, capped by Shohei Ohtani’s RBI single to right that scored Teoscar Hernández and tied the game at 3-3.

Arizona regained the lead in the fourth and added another run in the fifth when Gurriel chopped a single into right field, bringing home Pavin Smith for a 5-3 advantage.
The Dodgers threatened again in the ninth. Ohtani opened the inning with a towering homer to center to cut the deficit to one. After Freddie Freeman popped out, Max Muncy doubled and Kyle Tucker singled with two outs to put runners on the corners.
But Arizona escaped when Andy Pages grounded out to second, ending the rally and preserving the win.
The Diamondbacks now have a chance to even the series in Game 4, with Ryne Nelson set to face Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow.
