Saturday — Tigers notch second shutout with dominant win over Orioles
SARASOTA, FL — The Detroit Tigers wrapped up the first week of Spring Training with another dominant performance, blanking the Baltimore Orioles 7-0 to improve to 5-2 this spring.Kerry Carpenter paced the offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs. Gavin Lux continued his strong spring, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Friday — Tigers 8, @Phillies 4
Tarik Skubał may have hit his stride in Spring. The Tigers’ ace pitched 3 scoreless innings and struck out 3 batters to earn his first win. Matt Svanson earned his 2nd save. Josh Lowe powered the offense with 2 home runs. Dillon Dingler hit his first HR of Spring. The Tigers faced a new-look Phillies team without Bryce Harper at 1st base after he was traded to the Dodgers.
Thursday — @Tigers 4, Blue Jays 0
Jackson Jobe turned in the best start of Spring for Detroit, working three scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. Parker Meadows and Colt Keith homered for the Tigers. It was Colt’s 3rd smash of Spring.
Wednesday — Tigers 4, @Braves 2
Reese Olson had a strong outing (3 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 SO) to help the Tigers defeat Atlanta, evening their Spring record at 2-2. Trei Cruz homered.
Tuesday — Twins 4, @Tigers 3
Tigers left the tying run stranded after attempting a 9th inning rally. Starter Framer Valdez wasn’t impressive in his first Spring start, conceding 3 runs over 3 innings pitched.
Monday — @Tigers 9, Orioles 3
The Tigers belted 4 homers (Riley Green hit 2 HR) and the team bounces back after the Yankees blasted them in the Spring opener. Freddy Peralta made his Tigers’ spring debut and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings, struck out 4 and walked 1.
Sunday — @Yankees 8, Tigers 3
Mike Trout made his Yankees Spring debut, recording 3 RBI including a HR and scored twice. Aaron Judge also homered for the Yankees. Colt Keith homered for Detroit. Tarik Skubal opened his Spring with 2.1 innings of work, allowed a hit and 2 runs.
