NEW YORK, NY — The New York Knicks are headed to the Eastern Conference Final after a commanding 133-94 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 at Madison Square Garden.
Karl-Anthony Towns delivered his best performance of the postseason, finishing with 35 points and 11 rebounds to lead New York to the series-clinching win. Jalen Brunson added 28 points and 8 assists, while OG Anunoby chipped in 15 points.
Atlanta received 22 points from C.J. McCollum, but the veteran guard struggled from long range, shooting 4-for-14 from beyond the arc. Zaccharie Risacher scored 17 points but was unable to replicate the 26-point performance that helped the Hawks extend the series in Game 5.
The game was competitive through the opening quarter, which ended in a 27-27 tie. New York gradually gained control in the second and carried a 62-54 lead into halftime.
The decisive stretch came in the third quarter. The Knicks overwhelmed Atlanta on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Hawks 38-19 to build a commanding 100-73 advantage entering the fourth.
With the outcome all but decided, New York was able to ease the workload of its starters in the final period.
The Knicks dominated statistically across the board, shooting 59% from the field compared to Atlanta’s 44%, owning a 56-42 edge in points in the paint, and building a lead that grew to as many as 43 points.
The victory gives New York a 4-2 series win and sends the Knicks to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will await the winner of the Toronto Raptors–Cleveland Cavaliers series.
