For the first time in his 13-year NHL career, right winger Adrian Kempe will wear a different sweater after signing a seven-year contract worth $9.89 million annually with the Seattle Kraken. The deal includes a full no-movement clause.

Kempe, 29, was selected by the Los Angeles Kings with the 29th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft and spent his entire career with the organization. While his lone major honor was an All-Star selection in 2022, Kempe established himself as one of the league’s more consistent goal scorers.

He has scored at least 28 goals in each of the past five seasons and is coming off a career-best 79-point campaign in 2025-26, helping the Kings reach the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year.

Kempe immediately becomes one of Seattle’s premier offensive threats, joining Jared McCann and Chandler Stephenson at the top of the Kraken lineup.

The Kraken are hoping Kempe’s arrival can help push them one step further. Last season, Seattle advanced to the Western Conference Final after eliminating Vancouver and upsetting Edmonton before falling to Winnipeg in six games.
