ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Hawks opened the season with a 78-69 win over the Toronto Raptors at State Farm Arena. Jalen Johnson led the way with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

It also marked the Atlanta debut of C.J. McCollum, acquired from Washington in exchange for Trae Young. McCollum finished with 13 points and 10 assists, including five points and three assists in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks pull away.

Collin Murray-Boyles paced Toronto with 21 points and 5 rebounds, while Scottie Barnes added 20 points and 6 boards. Barnes scored 18 of his 20 in the second half as the Raptors trimmed a 51-42 halftime deficit.

Toronto outscored Atlanta 23-19 in the third to cut the margin to five and briefly tied the game early in the fourth before McCollum steadied the Hawks down the stretch.
