LOS ANGELES, CA — Denis Bouanga has recorded five hat tricks in his career, but for the first time he finished with four goals as Los Angeles FC defeated Seattle Sounders FC 5-3 at BMO Stadium.

The match started well for Seattle when Santiago Castañeda gave the Sounders a 1-0 lead in the 6th minute, driving a low shot from the edge of the box past the keeper.

The momentum shifted quickly, though.

Bouanga leveled in the 19th minute, timing his run behind the back line to collect a through ball before guiding a composed finish into the far corner. Olie Jorgensen then put LAFC ahead in the 30th minute, and Bouanga struck again in the 37th minute at close range to make it 3-1.

Seattle remained resilient after the break. Roger Kent cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 58th minute with a controlled finish inside the box. LAFC responded in the 80th minute when Bouanga completed his hat trick, meeting a well-placed feed from Igor Jesus and finishing first time to restore a two-goal cushion.

LAFC gave Seattle late hope after conceding a handball, sending Jesús Ferreira to the spot. Ferreira calmly converted, placing his penalty into the top left corner to make it 4-3 in the 83rd minute.

That hope did not last.

In the 90th minute, Bouanga added his fourth, cutting in from the left, beating his defender, and curling a precise shot into the upper corner to seal the result.
