AIR FORCE ACADEMY, CO — No. 20 Baylor leaned on a dominant ground game to power past Air Force 37-10 at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, opening the 2027 season in convincing fashion.
The Bears unleashed a three-pronged rushing attack that overwhelmed the Falcons. Dawson Pendergrass carried 14 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, Tyshawn King added 91 yards on just eight carries with two scores, and Joseph Dobbs chipped in with a touchdown of his own. Together, the trio accounted for 175 rushing yards and all three of Baylor’s rushing touchdowns.
Quarterback Walker White was efficient and steady, completing 27 of 34 passes for 217 yards. Though he didn’t throw a touchdown, White orchestrated the offense effectively, consistently moving the chains and setting up scoring drives.
Air Force’s offense struggled to respond. Junior quarterback Ju’Juan Johnson finished 6-of-9 for 77 yards and was sacked four times. His lone touchdown pass came after Baylor had already scored 37 unanswered points.
Freshman kicker Bruce Cook made a strong collegiate debut, converting all three of his field goal attempts, including a long of 41 yards.
Baylor now turns its attention to Week 2 with momentum firmly on its side.
