AMES, IA — Baylor closed out its four-game road trip in emphatic fashion, smothering Iowa State in a 31-8 victory at Jack Trice Stadium.

It was Baylor’s best defensive performance of the season and the fewest points the Bears have allowed since routing Oklahoma State 55-3 in Week 6 of last year. The defense harassed junior quarterback Alex Manske throughout the afternoon, intercepting him three times and never allowing the Cyclones to establish any offensive rhythm.

Quarterback Walker White fueled the Baylor offense with both his arm and his legs.

White scored twice on quarterback keepers, first on a 4-yard run in the second quarter that stretched Baylor’s lead to 17-0, then on a 3-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to make it 24-6. He capped his afternoon in the fourth quarter by finding Rameir Hardy for an 18-yard touchdown pass.

The Cyclones managed just two field goals in the second quarter before adding a late safety for their only other points of the afternoon.

White finished 20-of-32 passing for 283 yards and a touchdown while adding two rushing scores. Running back Tyshawn King chipped in 62 rushing yards on 15 carries, and Hardy continued his outstanding season with eight receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown.

The convincing victory gives Baylor momentum heading into the next stretch of the season after responding in impressive fashion following last week’s setback.
